George McCann

George McCann is a Bergen-based filmmaker known for his distinctive, collaborative approach to storytelling across both fiction and documentary formats. Originally from the U.S. and now rooted in the creative scene of Western Norway, George brings a cross-cultural perspective to his work. Through his production company, FOH Films, he focuses on poetic, character-driven narratives that explore themes of community, identity, and mental health.
His recent works include The Boxer, a short film supported by the Western Norway Film Centre, and Firefighter Goats, a documentary co-directed with Phoebe Dobey under the banner of Folk Film. George’s filmmaking blends visual intimacy with a quiet political edge, often highlighting underrepresented voices and collective efforts. His projects are deeply informed by the social fabric of his surroundings, reflecting a strong sense of place and purpose.
